Choosing a wedding photographer in Luxembourg is the highest-stakes vendor decision in the country's wedding market because there is no second chance. The food can be replaced; the venue can be redecorated; the photos either exist or they don't. Below are the ten questions our most-thoughtful clients asked us before booking. We have answered them honestly here so you can use them with whichever photographer you're considering.
1. Will the person I see in your portfolio be the person shooting my wedding?
The single most-asked question for a reason. Many studios show one photographer's style on the website and assign whoever is available on the day. If the answer is anything other than "yes, and I introduce you to them before you book," ask follow-up questions until you understand the swap logic.
2. How many weddings do you shoot per year, and how many are you the lead on?
A studio shooting 130 weddings a year with 8 photographers is different from one shooting 130 with 2. The first means a team with quality control; the second means burnout. Ask for both numbers.
3. Can I see a full gallery from a recent wedding similar to mine?
Portfolios show the highlight reel. A full gallery — 400-800 frames — shows the consistency. A photographer who refuses to show a full gallery is hiding the weak frames.
4. What is your delivery timeline? In writing?
Preview gallery within two weeks, full gallery within ten weeks is industry standard. Photographers who quote "between 6 and 16 weeks" are giving themselves a 10-week padding because they know they slip. Get a number in the contract.
5. What happens if you cannot make it the day-of?
Illness happens. Family emergencies happen. Ask explicitly: what is the backup plan? A working studio of multiple photographers has a real answer. A solo photographer should have a named substitute and a written succession clause.
6. What is your payment structure? When is everything due?
Luxembourg market standard: 10-20% deposit at booking, balance 30-60 days before the wedding. If a photographer asks for full payment at booking, ask why. If they ask for 50% deposit, ask why.

7. Are you a registered business? VAT number?
A registered Luxembourg professional has an entry in the trade register and a VAT number, and the contract names the business that sells the service. Ask to see them if you have any doubt.

8. What is your editing process? Do you outsource?
Many studios outsource editing to overseas studios who batch-apply presets. The result reads as Pinterest-generic. Ask: who edits my photos, where are they based, how long does it take, who signs off?
9. Can I keep digital copies and print them anywhere I want?
Some Luxembourg photographers retain print-release control and require all prints be made through them. Ask explicitly. Our policy is: every gallery includes full digital download rights and print release — print wherever you want.
10. What is the one thing you would tell me to budget more for?
A good photographer will not say "the photographer." A good photographer will say: an album, second photographer for the speeches, video coverage of the vows. Ask the question and listen to whether they show self-awareness about what is actually worth your money.
